— Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop

NOTE: This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by the band Seether in any way. It is a fun personal project.

I am undoubtedly a fan of all things rock, and Seether has long been a go-to when background music is needed.

To practice some text-based graphic design, I decided to redo one of my favorite albums of theirs, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.  Inspired by the words “negative” and “beauty”, my mind kept going back to photography, film negatives, and overexposure with a gritty texture. I chose to focus on the song titles, keeping them as text and allowing them to speak for themselves while the image of the film stayed out of focus in the background.

Enjoy!

Focus on the redesigned cover made up of text with a faded film-negative background and gritty texture.

Moodboard

Muted hues, a balance of warm and cool, and bold text are the focus of this project.
